Understandably, a lot of people are a little nervy when buying a used car. To take the uncertainty out of buying a used ŠKODA, go to one of ourAPPROVED retailers. We offer a whole host of checks, warranties and the like, so you don’t have to worry about anything but choosing the right car for you.

Our APPROVED used vehicle programme includes the following:

Manufacturer and/or ŠKODA APPROVED warranty

If you’re buying a car that’s less than six years of age with less than 72,000 miles on the clock you’ll automatically receive a 12 month warranty. Older cars which have a maximum of 100,000 miles on the clock come with a minimum of 3 months’ warranty. Warranties will either be the remainder of Manufacturer's warranty, a ŠKODA APPROVED warranty or a combination of the two.

You can also extend the warranty period at the time of buying, giving you even more worry-free driving time.

A year’s free Manufacturer and/or ŠKODA APPROVED Assistance

Again, if your car has yet to reach its sixth birthday and has covered less than 72,000 miles, you’ll benefit from 12 months’ Manufacturer and/or ŠKODA APPROVED Assistance. If your car breaks down, one phone call will get you back on the move. Cover operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Terms and conditions apply. Please speak to your local ŠKODA retailer for full details.

ŠKODA APPROVED multi-point vehicle inspection check

Just so you know your used ŠKODA is in good shape, our fully qualified technicians will give it a comprehensive workshop check before it’s delivered to you.

Vehicle status checks

We arrange for a third party to investigate your vehicle’s history and mileage, to make sure you don’t get any nasty surprises – like discovering there are outstanding finance payments owed on it or it’s been stolen or written off previously.

30 day/1,000 mile exchange

This demonstrates your retailer’s confidence in the vehicles that are on offer. (Terms & conditions apply).

During braking, the kinetic energy is transformed into heat, which is then uselessly radiated into the environment. To help you get part of this energy back, we’ve developed the brake energy recuperation system, which uses intelligent alternator to store the energy in battery during deceleration and then uses it to lower the engine load by alternator, reducing the fuel consumption.

How does it work? When you brake with the engine, alternator increases its output to use engine’s kinetic energy, which would otherwise be wasted uselessly. Conversely, when engine power is needed, the alternator can lower its output and thus also its resistance to the engine. This helps to lower the fuel consumption in this mode and basically “recycle” the energy recovered during braking.

To help ŠKODA owners stay safe and secure as the temperature dips, ŠKODA is urging customers to take advantage of its Winter Health Check offer.

Milton Keynes, 22nd November 2013 – For just £30, motorists can have their cars treated to a comprehensive seven-point examination by fully-trained technicians at any of the 134 ŠKODA retailers in the UK. Each customer will also receive a full vehicle condition report, as well as a ŠKODA branded gift bag worth £23, which includes a de-icer, screen wash, and an ice scraper.

The checklist focuses on the key areas of a vehicle that may suffer the most during the winter months:

1. Lights
These are inspected for any blown bulbs and incorrect beam alignment. Essential for keeping lights nice and bright as the days get darker.

2. Wiper blades
Visibility can be at a premium during the winter months, so all blades are looked at for wear and damage.

3. Windscreen washer fluid
A clean and dry windscreen means better visibility. The vehicle will be topped up with the correct antifreeze fluid to prevent any ice build-ups.

4. Brakes
Responsive brakes are essential at any time of year, but in winter they are even more important. Discs, pads and fluid levels are inspected as part of the check to ensure perfect operation.

5. Tyres
Often taken for granted, tyres are put under enormous stress during the winter months. ŠKODA technicians will thoroughly check the condition of all tyres, highlighting any potential problem areas.

To help owners get the most out of their vehicles in cold and wet conditions, ŠKODA retailers are also offering winter tyre packages at very competitive prices. Winter tyres are designed with special tread patterns that deliver improved grip at temperatures below 7ºC, and are recommended for all drivers venturing out over the colder months.

6. Battery
Cold weather can put a great strain on the battery, so this key component is evaluated thoroughly as part of the winter check.

7. Air-conditioning
It may sound like an unusual thing to worry about in winter, but air conditioning is a great ally in the battle to keep windscreens and windows mist-free. The state of the system and its effectiveness will be assessed.
