ŠKODA Auto has a long history of producing cast moulds and forgings for engines and gearboxes. For example, as early as 1962 we became the first in Europe to use a high-pressure pouring process to produce intricate and complex aluminium cylinder blocks. Cast moulds from the aluminium foundry, grey cast iron and forgings from the forging facility in Mladá Boleslav are used not just in other factories that are part of the VW Group, but also at a number of local and international customers’ sites. We are continuously modernising the foundries and equipping them with the latest technology and technical equipment.

ŠKODA’s reputation for reliable and versatile cars, value for money and outstanding customer service has been highlighted again with another multi award-winning performance in the JD Power satisfaction survey.

Milton Keynes, 24th May 2013 – The Superb was voted the UK’s best car – up from fourth place last year – while the Yeti was just behind, taking second place. Both won their respective categories, helping ŠKODA into fourth place in the ‘best brands’ classification.

ŠKODA’s UK dealer network also came in for praise, with owners showing appreciation for the friendly manner and responsiveness of staff.

Judged by thousands of car owners who live with their vehicles day-to-day, JD Power is one of the most influential and eagerly anticipated reports in UK motoring. The full results are published in the July edition of What Car? magazine. Chas Hallett, What Car? Editor in Chief, commented: “ŠKODA continues to win fans. Owners really rate their cars and the ŠKODA network. The brand works hard and it shows.”

ŠKODA Yeti – Best Compact SUV
What Car?’s editorial team said that Yeti owners reported a pleasurable driving experience, with suspension discreetly mopping up bumps and potholes. The car’s handling was rated best in class, and owners raved about the slick gearshift while enjoying rapid acceleration and a satisfying purr from the engine.

ŠKODA Superb – Best Family Car / Compact Executive
Customers rated the Superb best in class for rear passenger comfort, but saved their highest praise for the car’s cavernous boot. They loved the fact it was easy to load and unload because of its TwinDoor rear hatch, which can open either as a saloon-style boot or full tailgate.

Alasdair Stewart, Brand Director for ŠKODA UK, commented: “JD Power is all about customer satisfaction and for the Superb and Yeti to take the top two positions is fantastic. It’s testament to ŠKODA’s innovative thinking, quality of the cars, and the outstanding service offered by our dealers.”

Having undergone a comprehensive facelift, both Hatch and Estate versions offer a fresh and attractive design, an upgraded interior and significantly improved fuel economy and CO2 emissions.

Milton Keynes, 9th May 2013 – ŠKODA has revealed UK price and specification details for its updated Superb flagship model.

On sale in the UK from the 17th July 2013, prices for the facelift Superb range start at just £18,555 (OTR) for the 1.4-litre TSI 125PS S Hatch. The top-of-the-range Laurin & Klement Estate model costs £32,455 (OTR) when paired with the 2.0 TDI CR 170PS DFP engine, 4x4 and 6spd Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG). Diesel versions start from £19,760 (OTR). The premium for the Estate over its hatch sibling is £1,125.

The Superb facelift will be available in the UK with six advanced engine options: three petrol and three diesel. Power outputs range from 105PS (1.6 TDI CR) to 260PS for the 3.6 V6 model.

Engines are up to 19% more economical than the previous generation units, and a fuel-efficient GreenLine version offers emissions of just 109g/km.

The fleet sector will make a significant contribution to Superb sales, and with BiK starting at just 16%, and more rear legroom than most prestige cars, the Superb’s appeal is obvious.

Alasdair Stewart, Brand Director for ŠKODA UK, commented: “The Superb continues ŠKODA’s tradition of offering a huge amount of space, engineering excellence and great value for money”.

“Since its launch 12 years ago, the Superb has been lauded for its versatility, comfort and equipment. This comprehensive facelift builds on these and we are confident that the excellent improvements to fuel consumption and C02 will appeal to both fleet and private customers”.
